Earlier today, Facebook released its update to the Paper app for iPhone and iPod Touch in the App Store. The company did just stop there, as the official Facebook iPad app also received a pretty important update.

Facebook 11.0 is now available to download for the iPad in the App Store. The new Facebook update gives users a similar view to the one they would see on a desktop version of the social media website. There are now two separate columns on the News Feed. One column is the users standards News Feed, showing posts and such of Facebook friends, and the second column now shows people's birthdays, trending topics, and mainly games.

It seems Facebook is focusing on adding hotlinks to popular Facebook games that are also found in the App Store. Users can now see a list of recommended games that maybe their friends are playing, as well as games that the user has already downloaded, to hop right in from the Facebook app. The games space also leaves room for developers to advertise, but no word from Facebook on when this will be available.

Facebook version 11.0 is now available to download for free from the App Store.

I think its a stupid update. It will become more slow and sluggish when internet is slow. Already the ipad app crashes after 40 minutes of using it. Many like me are not interested in getting games info and occupying the screen space. On top of that, getting updates of birthdays etc will slowdown the smoothness.

At least there should be an option to switch it off

Well duh. Slower internet connection means slower FB.
