Is the Facebook application a permanent application on the IPad , if not how can I get rid of it please

It's not a permanent app. You should be able to remove it like any other app from App Store: tap and hold until it starts to wiggle, then delete it.

Once you get the app wiggling, tap the X in the upper left corner to open a pop up where you confirm your choice by tapping the delete button.

Thank you for all the help but I do know how to remove it from my screen by tapping and holding but this does not remove it from my settings even in the settings if I close the account the Facebook icon still remains in the settings, is there a way to completely remove the account and the icon from the IPad.
