G mail autofill

Hi you helpers out there.
I would like to get rid off the auto fill feature of my address book in Gmail on my iPad, can anybody tell how to do that?
Thanks in advance and good night for now (0.06 here)

GMail in the Mail app, the GMail app itself, or the GMail site in Safari?

And can you describe in more detail what you mean by autofill? I'm not sure I'm following you. Though I'm not overly familiar with the GMail app or Safari's GMail interface, so that might be why.

My best guess without knowing more:

Go to Settings > Safari > and turn off Auto-Fill. That is assuming you are using the mobile GMail site in Safari.

Hi there Twerppoet,
thanks for the quick reply and sorry that I seem to be unclear.
The case is this:
I have put in my iPad a few e mail accounts.
These seem to share the same 'historical address' book e.g. when you put in the first letter of an address in a new e mail it comes up with a list of list addresses that I have used in the past.
Some of these addresses are wrong, outdated or belong to a specific e mail account. So a few times mails have been send to wrong or no longer excisting addresses.
For this reason I want to clean up that address book and/or stop using the autofill feature.
Can you help me how to do this?

Thanks again.

I'm sorry but you can't delete those addresses. That's a "helpful" feature by Apple that, well, isn't. At the present time (and since the start of the iPad) there is no way to remove those addresses from a stock iPad. The best you can hope for is for them to get pushed further down the recommendations list because you don't use them.

We keep hoping for a change but so far, no luck. Again, sorry.

Marilyn

Thanks Marilyn,
you don't have to make excuses as it is not your fault I guess :-) However one would have expected a bit different (on/off switch from 'helpful' Apple.
kind regards,
Hans
