Gak! My son's most played songs show up in my requently played list!

He is 11 and likes to listen to the same song like a hundred times! So now his most played on his iPod touch 3rd gen are on my iPad! How can I disable the link between our 2 devices? Does he need his own Apple ID? Can I just turn off some sortof wifi update/iCloud in the Genral Settings tab?
I love the kid but seeing 15 of his latest songs in my 25 most played(which I tend to listen to as I fix dinner) is driving me bonkers!
