Getting a Apple care for 4 month old ipad 3

I bought iPad 3 few months back. I always wanted to take AppleCare for my iPad as it is very expensive piece for getting it repaired, but I just waited because I thought if I take the apple care at the end of my 1 year warranty period, I will get totally 3 years of protection. Is this a bad idea? Can I get apple care for my iPad anytime within 1
Year? Is the apple care worth taking in India. I am asking this because I don't know whether Indian applestore will accept accidental damage like the us stores.

Basically you can add it within the first year but coverage begins with DATE OF PURCHASE.
So you really won't gain any coverage time.
Also I THINK Apple may want to inspect the device before issuing the policy.
