Getting to Mail "page" on ipad 1

I have never used my ipad 1 to send or receive email. I'd like to do so now. I think that i've successfully set up an account -- using the same email provider that I use on my mac desktop and my mac pro laptop -- that is, my cable company, charter.net. I don't know how to get to the place ("page") where I can receive and send emails. Also, is there an issue with the server not saving email for the ipad 1 once it's been received by my other 2 computers? Thanks much.
