We intend to do some moose and caribou inventory, using what's called a stratified random block survey. We'll have potentially several hundred polygons mapped out in ArcGIS, and want to upload at least some of them into the iPad, probably using MotionX-GPS HD, so that we can see as we fly along whether we're in or out of the survey area, by watching our flight track in relation to the polygon boundaries. Anybody done this sort of work, perhaps not necessarily with animal surveys, and found a good application to import shapefiles in and display them on the unit, along with real-time GPS?
