Gmail question....

I'm going to start by saying I don't keep my mailbox as clean as I should.

When I purchased my Air and synced everything to it, it showed about 17,000 emails in Gmail.

I recently switched from Android to iPhone. So, same deal with the phone.

So, no matter how much I clean out Gmail on the computer, I still have thousands on both devices. And, just tonight, I went through and painfully deleted over 2500 from my iPad, but, of course, all of them are still visible on my iPhone, (at least last time I looked).

It would be nice to not have to repeat this process over and over. I clean and clean on the computer, only to see the same messages sitting on my phone and iPad.

Is there any solution to this vicious cycle?

Thanks in advance!

Which way did you set up the Gmail account? There's a Gmail option in Settings - Mails, Contacts, Calendars - Add new Account.

In case you used this, take a look at your Gmail settings through a browser, if you use one of your iDevices, go to desktop view and look at the settings from there.
Under the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab, see what you selected there. It might be the choice not to sync wih the server in this setting (Enable IMAP, Auto-Expunge off) that's the reason for this behaviour.

Hope that helps.
