Gmail verify failure

Hi, I have had iPad over 12 months and gmail has been working great, but over the passed few weeks it has started to tell me user name or password incorrect, sometimes. At other times it works just fine. i have rebooted, but get same message on my iPhone. Hubbie also has iPad and gmail and that works correctly. Any ideas?
