Headphone jack on new iPad 2 is closed shut with a black plastic cover

Can I use the headphone cables from iPhone on iPad 2? How come I cannot remove this black plastic cover from the headphone jack on my brand new ipad2
I got the solution now. Thanks. I had the white plastic cover on.

The iPad does not ordinarily come with a plug in the headphone jack. Could you, or someone else, have put one in? In other words - it should just come right out.

Because yes, you can use the same headphones you use with the iPhone on the iPad...
