Hello All!

Hi everyone on the forum!
I have been using iPad for few years, but recently upgraded to an IPad Air. The transition has been pretty smooth. Only one question arises, I frequently use Maps and just downloaded Google Earth. On my old iPad, Maps gives you a street view, so I could, for example show a friend my house in NC.
But the newer versions do not apparently offer this view. Is this the case or am I doing something wrong?

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Was your older iPad an iPad 1? This iPad could only be updated to OS 5.1.1

The Maps app did go through a change on a later OS and there were some changes made that many were not happy about. I can't remember correctly what they were as I have never used the app in this way. But hopefully others will remember and be able to recommend what to do or another App more suitable.....I've moved your thread to our Help Section where more members will be able to view your issue and be better able to help you. Good luck!

The IPad Forum is a community of members from all walks of life and from all over the world coming together to share our experiences and to help each other learn about this wonderful piece of technology the Ipad. The standard mapping app included with iOS 5.1.1 and earlier has street view because Google provided the mapping software to Apple for use in the standard maps app built into iOS. The standard built in mapping app built into iOS 6 and newer is completely Apple, using Apple's own mapping software, without street view. If you want to use street view on a newer device, you need to download the free Google maps app from the AppStore. Input any address into the search box in Google maps and you will have the street view option for that address.
