Notes on my iPad have taken to disappearing into the vapours .

I found the notes section on the iPad an absolute bonus for taking notes at meetings , and jotting down all manner of things but all of a sudden every note disappeared with some really important notes never to be seen again .
Now I find that all the notes disappear really quickly and are found in the trash box of my iclould mail .

Please how do I stop this happening? and why oh why is it happening at all ? now I seldom trust the notes app which was once the best friend on the iPad .

Hi there and welcome.

Whilst this hasn't happened to me I have seen lots of similar reports here about this. My only suggestion would be to try an app like Evernote, it is free and has worked faultlessly for me as well as it having far more functionality than the stock Notes App. In addition, if the worst does happen with Evernote I understand that you can upgrade after the event and get all those notes back.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, etc. and iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the forum rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store and a great tutorial/guide for using the IPF App here http://www.ipadforums.net/new-membe...sistance/107524-ipad-forums-app-tutorial.html

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://help.apple.com/ipad/6/ and here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for iOS 4, 5, 6, etc.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/ and for iPhone users, come and join in the discussion over at http://www.iphoneforums.net

Your notes ending up in iCloud mail's trash folder suggests that you are using an outdated version of iOS. Notes used to sync with a mail folder; iCloud, GMail, or Yahoo, depending on your settings. With iOS 5.x the iCloud account stopped syncing with your iCloud mail and started syncing with the Notes app at iCloud.com (a web site you need to visit on a desktop computer).

Go to Settings > General > About and see what version of of iOS your iPad is on. If it is an iPad 1 you'll want to be on iOS 5.11 (I think). Otherwise you'll probably want to update to the latests version of iOS for the iPad, 6.1.3.

That aside, I echo Gabriel's suggestion. I'm an avid Evernote user. It's never let me down. Hold in mind that if you need offline notes, you'll need to go to the premium account. Lots of other benefits to doing so.

If you search around the forum you'll also find lots of suggestions for note taking apps. It's one of the most popular app categories. You're sure to find a note app that does things the way you want, or at least pretty close.

Thank you for your advice , I have just checked and I have IOS 6.1.3 already and that seems to be from that update that everything started to disappear .

I shall look at Evernote

Sounds like your notes didn't migrate. Sorry to hear that. I've never had problems with Notes myself, but others have. Then again, I don't use it a lot, or for important stuff.

Let us know what you think of Evernote.
