Helloooooo, I'm new... (Problems with microphone...iPad2)

Particularly looking for support with iPad2. I had a replacement from apple due to a dodgy connector, but I have left it too late, with regards to warranty, to find out that my microphone doesn't work. I can't afford the replacement cost with Apple and they suggested an alternative would be to get an external mic. Has anyone else had microphone issues with the iPad2 mic? Any ideas what to buy as an external mic?

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

We have had others here with an issue with their mic but not that many that it would be considered a real problem and from what we've seen were caught within the warranty period.

I'm thinking that you would have tried the mic with different audio apps? You can just video yourself speaking to test or use an audio recording app.
Also look in Settings - Privacy - Microphone and make sure it's turned on here for any apps you have installed......that's if you're on IOS7.
And try a reset to see if that makes a difference.
Reset - Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you may see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start.

Otherwise have a good look at your mic and make sure it hasn't any debris lodged in it.....a quick vacuum could do the trick if you should see something.
