Backdoor iOS 6 upgrade prevent

I too have been looking for some setting to turn off the automatic upgrade to iOS 6. I prefer to wait while others try out "bleeding edge" technology. No joy.

However, I can share that the upgrade failed on my iPad when I connected via wifi because my battery was less than 50% charged.

Gotta admire that Apple marketing department, turned the New iPad slow to charge issue into a "feature". Just keep your battery less than 50% and iOS will not update when wifi is connected. Given issues with poor wifi connects, thank God for 4G.

As an iPad newbee, would love someone to tell how to really turn off the update.

Actually, I never experienced that auto download for iOS updates, nor have I ever heard of that happening before. In the meantime,

I noticed on two devices it started downloading the iOS 6 update after I had just synced and backed up my devices in preparation for the update. On those occasions iTunes had prompted me about the update, but I declined as I wanted to do it OTA.

It should just download, then prompt to start the install, which, I guess, you could postpone.

Well, I started the download on purpose then read about issues. Shoulda read first I guess. In any case when it finished the download I now have my wifi speeds back up, but every time I reboot it pops up a window that says install will starting 8sec if I don't hit cancel. Wow, that's annoying. I know I'll forget and it will install sometime. Geez,,, I don't want my wifi all F'd up as I've heard that's one issue of many. What to do??? What to do???
