Hi Guys,

Now the Ipad 2 is out there I have a huge decision to make.

Wait till the end of March and get an Ipad 2 or save a few quid and buy the Ipad 1 which already has come down £100 at the apple store?

Much difference? What would you do?

Please tell me your views, I need help!!!!

Greetings and welcome to the forum!

This is really an impossible question to answer because my only frame of reference is... ME!

Without knowing how you use your iPad and what features are important to YOU, that person you look at in the mirror every morning is the only person who can answer that question.

Mainly playing around with apps...

And games...

And weather...

And ofcourse the net...

Will Imovie be available for ipad1?

Craigslist 300 dollars look and you will find just offer that to everybody even close to that range as it's used and they can't even ask for 350.

The new one really isn't that great as it's just the processor and most apps won't make much use of it. Camera to me is pointless but everybody is different.

Everyone that has had a hands on experience with the new iPad has commented on the fact that it is lightning fast. There will be a lot of new apps to take advantage of the new processor. Most of the features in iOS 4.3 will work in the 1st gen, but naturally will be better in the iPad 2. Interestingly enough, at least one of the experts are saying the iMovie feature is a game changer for many parts of the world where events can be filmed and edited from the device.

I've only had my iPad1 for a month so I was ready to get the "I just bought this!" syndrome until I began lurking the various discussions on this forum and on CNET ( great product info news, reviews, etc). After about 20 mins I became very clear that my iPad1 does more than I even realized it could do so why be upset? it is true that all my iPad use has been like a bite from the apple of knowledge of network,( social and tech) ......and it is addictive.......more!more!more! So here's what I think.... if I needed to conserve on bucks I would get the iPad1 and enjoy the low price....shop well! If not get the ipad2 and step up into all the great things it can do......just do not be surprised next year when Apple offers an arm implant and all you have to do is think it! Ha, teasing! Either way, you'll love it.

If you can possibly squeeze out the money grab the new one.
There are loads of free games and apps around the 99cents (50p) level.
It's worth it as you will get so much enjoyment out of the gadget.
Ours have been in use everyday since we bought them.
Yeah it's addictive but doesn't mess with your nose....

Seems simple enough, do you need the cameras and/or iMovie? If so get the new one. If not, save the money and wait for iPad 3. I went with choice number 2. The first iPad does everything I need. It plays all the games I like and I watch all the movies and tv I want. Quad core processors for mobile devices will be out by the end of this year and I'm betting iPad 3 will be a beast so that's the one I'm waiting on.

In terms of averae users, if you get an original iPad, you can expect to upgrade to the iPad 3 whenever it comes out. Of course, that may mean that you wait until the iPad 4 comes out and buy clearance pricing. If you get an iPad 2, then you would probably wait for the iPad 4, unless the iPad 3 is a major game changer. Simple isn't it.

If I were getting a new iPad for the first time, the choice would come down to price vs functionality, and all other factors being equal, I'd go with functionality.

The reason being, you can get a cheaper iPad 1 right now but it will miss out on all the nifty upgrades on the iPad 2, and the difference in cost is not humungous. I'd rather make the spend and get the newer device. (I'm also by habit a slow adopter, so when I get hardware I tend to use it until the device stops working, so when I buy hardware I try to buy stuff as advanced as money allows.)

I have a 32gb ipad wifi only now, and im gonna get the ipad 2..... the gb size is fine but I cannot decide on getting the 3g model of wifi only again. I wouldn't plan on activating the 3 g ever really since it'll be on my home wifi while im there and I use wireless tether from my phone when im not at home. Only really reason I would get the 3 g is for the gps, I already have a garmin in the car so im just confused on what to do.....is it really worth paying the $130 for the gps since that's all I would use out of it which would probably not be alot since we don't travel alot, maybe once a year. Anyone got any ideas why the 3 g would be much better? I dont have a habit of buying stuff and selling it so getting more money for selling isn't really a factor
