Help please - I can't figure out what my iPad/PC is doing

I connected my iPad to my PC using the USB cable. A menu popped up asking what I wanted to do and an option to do this by default any time it's connected.

Instead of choosing anything, I just clicked on the X in the top, right corner to close it out. Now the iTunes program still appears in my task bar, but when I click on it, nothing happens. I'm afraid to disconnect the iPad or force close iTunes because I assume it must be doing something like syncing, but I have no real way to confirm that it's syncing. Nothing on my PC or iPad indicates it's syncing anything.

It's been going on now for about 10-15 minutes. Can someone please advise me on what I should do?

Have you tried to bring up the Windows Task Manager to see if iTunes has stopped responding?

If it has stopped responding, my suggestion is to close it via the Task Manager. Then, you should be able to open it and it should then recognize your iPad.

Sometimes, unfortunately, iTunes gets "stuck" and you have to force it closed...
