HELP sync iPad without loosing data

Deck top PC used to sync/back-up both an iPad and an iPad 2 on the same iTunes account for the past year died recently. Have since authorized my laptop on the same iTunes account. How do I sync/ back-up the iPad using the laptop without loosing any data? Really concerned about loosing Safe app content.

Before you sync the ipad with the laptop, you should shut off the automatic management of itunes.
