Help with configuring notifications

With My old Ipad I, I liked the default notifications. I have a "games" folder, and if it was my turn to move for 5 games, I would see a "5" above the folder icon. I just turned notifications on for one of my apps, and received a screen message, stating that it was my turn to move in a certain game with a certain opponent. I don't want these verbose invasive notifications, just the old numbering system. I can't figure out how to configure this.

Please advise.

If you go to the the Settings App and Notifications (3rd item on the menu) you can adjust the notification settings for the individual apps listed underneath, some will allow you to turn the badge on and other notification elements off. It may not do exactly what you want but it's certainly worth a try.
