Recently joined and have been reading through some posts here. I'm pretty much UNfamiliar with Apple products - have never owned one, but love looking around the Apple store. Since I'm in the market for a tablet, of course I'm considering iPad. I've been a PC/Android user so far, but I'm totally open to new environments.
Have shopped current tabs and am watching CES news this week about what's coming. I was strongly considering an ASUS Transformer Prime until I found out it's not supported (no sales or repair) in Mexico, where I'll be moving soon. Anybody know if iPads are sold and serviced in the Guadalajara area of Mexico?
If I decide to go iPad, will probably wait to purchase until new product announcement... either to get the updated version, or buy current at lower price. I assume this would be a logical plan of attack at this point?
As for introduction... I'm a network admin in a strictly PC environment. Own several PC desktop and laptop units myself. Phone is Android. Only exposure to Apple is that hubby owns an older iPod Touch (used mainly for music). My company is considering getting some tablets for a few employees - mainly Marketing and Sales folks who would travel with them. Being in IT, I would like to learn more about iPads so I could provide intelligent input on the subject and eventual support, but company won't purchase one for IT to "learn" on (other IT guy has a Kindle Fire, so he's somewhat familiar with that flavor of Android tablet). If I get an iPad at some point, you'll probably see me wandering the business-related forum sections here, trying to figure out how to incorporate them into my company's network.
Nice meeting everybody. I'm sure you love that every newbie's "welcome" email asks them to clutter the discussion area with introductions. We now return you to other more interesting and relevant discussions. Carry on!
