What's new

Hi, I'm new here

I got my iPad about 6months ago and just now found this forum. My iPad has a problem connecting to my computer so I can't sync to iTunes to upload photos or videos. I need to get it fixed, but I don't want to be without my iPad. Is there any way to upload videos without iTunes?

Thanks
Terri

Hi ther and welcome to the forum!

Hope you get your iTunes fixed. Instead of a directly connecting your iPad to iTunes with the USB cord, have you tried to do a wifi sync? We're you able to update your iPad to ios5. This isone of the new features of being able to do a wireless sync. That would be one way.

Can you try to email those photos/videos to yourself and than drag it to your iTunes? Another way is to use an app like Dropbox where you can drag it to the ap on your iPad and than open it from your pc.

It's not my iTunes, it is the USB port in my iPad. I did update my system, but the USB port broke before I was able to sync with wifi. I don't have iTunes on my iPad. If I download the app and email the files, can I drag them over?

Thanks
Terri

I don't understand how your USB port broke before you were able to do a wifi sync.

What I mean is a "wireless" sync. You would need to plug your iPad to a wall outlet and than go to your pc and open iTunes. Have outdone that?

You should be able to transfer-especially the pictures. Are your videos one tht you have taken or movie video. I am not sure if you would be able to easily drag and drop videos as you would a photo.

Regarding the Dropbox app you need it on your iPad. You can also download it onto your pc and open it there. Or, instead of dropbox you can email it to yourself just to give you further clarification.

I am curious to know how you are able to charge your iPad without having the internal port not working? How are you doing that?

The charging part of the port works. Not great, sometimes it takes a few times connecting for it to connect to charge. I'm sure it will break at some point but I don't want to let go of my iPad until I have to. I do have Dropbox on my computer, maybe I will try doing it that way. I have already converted the videos to mp4s.

From what I have read, I would have to sync my iPad to iTunes and then change the setting to sync by wifi. I am not able to do that.

Ooh that's a bummer than about your port. I wish you luck on that.

Yes, if you are having trouble getting your internal port properly connected and to plug into an outlet that may difficult. I believe the initial set up to begin a wifi sync is having to directly attach your iPad to your pc and go to settings on iTunes. That is ow I remember doing it.

Dropbox is really nice to have. You can send pictures to others that don't even have the app by copying to a general link. It's really nice. Good luck with everything.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

If your iPad is still under warranty and from what you say it must be then just go to Apple. They will just give you another one rather than fix the one you have. The only problem I see is trying to back everything up to your PC first. If your iPad is still charging albeit hit and miss, try to hook it up to your PC to do a back up. If you can't, you will still be able to download your apps for free again as the App store keeps a record of all purchases. For any files you have try to send them through Dropbox as Skimonkey has suggested or email them to yourself first.
