Hi I'm Richard from Cornwall, in the UK. I have just got myself a new Ipad2 (it was my birthday). I resisted for a year saying I can't really see the point, I've only had it 2 weeks and I love it............

Hi there! Welcome! When a couple of my friends got the iPad (1), I was like, oh my gosh, what a waste of money! I just didn't see the point of them. But now I'm realizing everything my iPad 2 (which I'm going to buy tomorrow!) will be replacing in my life - my laptop (mainly), my bedroom TV, an ereader, my netbook, and my smartphone when I'm somewhere with WiFi.

Hi All

Amazingly quick responses! I was afraid I had posted my welcome message in the wrong place.........

As you point out, it does replace many devices, I stream movies and music to it from my iMac, read magazines on it and browse the web to list but a few...

Yeah, I'm going to ask for 2 mag subscriptions for Christmas (Newsweek and Nat Geo) and I'm excited to read those on my iPad come January. I'm also anxious to put movies on it. I'm only getting the 16GB, so I don't know how many I can put on it at a time, but that's no big deal.

I just keep a few movies on it at a time (I have them all on my iMac) , once I've watched a movie, i just remove it!! I have the 16GB, its more than enough for me. To read magazines I use an app called Good Reader, i think its about $5 in the US, as the Ipad doesn't have a built in PDF reader.

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing, Richard: just having one or two movies on it at a time. I need to figure out how to convert them with Handbrake (they're .avi's).

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!
