Hi to all, new member with question and a13 y.o. son.......

Thanks for all the shared experise and info here... trying to solve a problem, hoping someone can help.. will post in aprop forum..

basically, mom with ipad2, son with ipod touch 4g, he upgraded to 6, i am still at 5.1.1, we share a laptop for syncing...

the ipad has for the most part replaced my imac... so...... don't want to ruin my ipad with 6 :-(

basically, that's my story:-)

I don't see the problem. If you want to stay on iOS 5, you can do so. iTunes knows the difference between iOS devices attached to it, and can handle them accordingly.

No probs with combo of iOS 5 and 6 from my experience. My iPad 4 and iPod touch 4 are on iOS 6, and my iPad 1 and 2 remain on iOS 5.1.1 because I prefer the old Google maps. (I don't care for a fuzzy iPhone version on iPad.) All the devices are synched on one computer, on one iTunes account. Actually, so are my husband's iPhone 4 and my 4S, both on iOS 5.1.1.

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://help.apple.com/ipad/6/ and here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for iOS 4, 5, 6, etc.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/ and for iPhone users, come and join in the discussion over at http://www.iphoneforums.net

wow! thanks for all the help! that all helps, and yes we share one itunes account, so i was concerned if i was going to have to upgrade my ios to upgrade itunes so we could continue on the one account. i had google searched the forum and couldn't find a scenario quite like mine... felt like i was going in circles... so thanks! thanks for all the links... will be reading up.. have had the ipad for awhile, but i know I am not getting as much of it as i currently am. looking forward to learning more... now if i can just get that new bt keyboard hooked up...

That's easy. Just turn on Bluetooth in Settings, turn on the keyboard and let them find each other.

I don't think you need to supply a PIN, but if you do it will be in your keyboard documentation. When the BlueTooth indicator is lit the keyboard will be active. If it is greyed out BT is turned on but inactive.

Let us know if you have any problems. Don't let your kid near it because a keyboard can only be paired with one idevice at a time and if he gets to it first...

I recently read about a new LogiTech (if I remember right) keyboard that allows pairing with three devices. I want it, but can't justify since I rarely use my Apple one.

I've seen one in BestBuy, Kay. Looks good. I was tempted myself, but already have the Apple keyboard.
