How can I use ipad's front camera?

There are other apps where the front facing camera is very handy, FaceTime, Skype....lots of photographic apps or apps like snapchat.

Also great if you need a mirror! ;)

Golly....the tablet makers needs to get on this angle for marketing! :)

Well, grandparents w/ a dozen or more grandkids living in far away distant places would likely object to that statement! :D

Sure, because nobody can utilize the useless front camera made by apple to see their beloved ones.

Actually sometimes I feel that Ipad is a wonderful thing and cannot imagine my life without it.

Other times I see obviously that it is just a peice of crap sold by apple with hundreds of dollars when I see the front camera which can be used only on facetime which is not active in all countries and which should be paired only by other apple devices.

Even the bluetooth for sharing files only working with apple devices ! Is this the professionalism from Apple?

No one said it was usable 'only' in FaceTime. Well, except for you.

Skype will use it. The built in camera app (and most other camera apps) will use it. It's completely available to any developer who wants to use it.

As for the countries that restrict FaceTime, that's an issue with the laws of that country.

As for FaceTime only working with other Apple devices, that's a limitation of all video chat app/services. They only work with themselves.

Given Apple's poor history of writing quality apps for other platforms, you probably don't want them to try and make FaceTime available everywhere. Besides, Skype, Google Hangouts, and probably several other services will play the multi-platform game.

That said, it's only obvious uses are for video chat, self portraits, and as a mirror.

I expect at some point a developer with more imagination and knowledge than me will come up with something interesting and innovative that uses the front camera.

Then there's bluetooth for sharing files. Guess what? It doesn't work between Apple devices either. Not natively. Apple does not support native bluetooth file sharing on any iOS device. Third party apps that use bluetooth to transfer files use the serial port protocol of the standard (which Apple does support), and need you to be running the same app on both devices. It's feasible for a developer to write the same app for multiple platforms, but apparently few (if any) have felt it was worth their time.

I could make some guesses why Apple chooses not to support native Bluetooth file transfer (slow, lousy user experience, poor security, whatever?) but only they know for sure.
