How do I copy a calendar entry please?

In the Calendar app? You can't.

It would come in handy now and then. If you are syncing with an online server like Google, it may be possible on the web client.

You can with Google Calendar in a browser anyway. Open the event and choose Duplicate Event under the More Options pull down menu.
