How do you delete a newspaper edition?

Ayrshire

I subscribe to the London Times and Sunday Times.

After reading a particular edition how does one delete it? I fear all this print is going to gobble up my storage capabilities. Plus, it is unlikely I will go back and read past newspapers.

I went to the task bar at the bottom and clicked on the Help icon ( ? ), but that just gives navigation help.

I'm sure when we had it, you had to hold finger on paper and wait for it to jiggle but I could be wrong though. You could delete the app and redownload if all else fails. Not sure that would work, I'd have to do it myself. Website might help you.

For the times, my app only seems to keep issues for just over a week, nothing beyond that.

In the Sunday times app click on sections then touch and hold any downloaded section, after a few seconds all the downloaded sections will show up with red X's in the top corner, tap the ones you no longer want.......this may also work with recent issues of the times.

Thanks. I found the instructions for the Sunday Times and individual sections, it was just I wanted to be able to delete my daily editions when I finished reading them each day. The daily papers don't have the same deleting process. If we're just storing issues for a week at a time, then I guess it is ok. You would think there would be one process for both papers. Also, it would be nice to have a help section that explains the deleting process for the daily.

Thanks again though for your kind feedback

Ayrshire, have you tried swiping from left to right on the newspaper? Swiping is the only other deletion method, which comes to mind.

I haven't tried this in the daily edition but I don't think it will work as the editions scroll left and right......I'll try it out tomorrow when I'm on the Woolwich Ferry.

You can clear all the daily editions you have downloaded by going into the iPad Settings app and scrolling all the way down to "The Times" and choose "Clear Cache". You can do this each day after you have read the paper if you are paranoid about keeping space free...

Deleting issues of The Times

Currently (May 2011) The Times app holds 8 copies of the times and then deletes them sequentially. You can't delete individual issues (at least not in this version of the app) but you can clear the entire cache if you want to. Here's how:

- Open 'Settings' on your iPad
- Choose 'The Times' from the list of apps
- Slide the 'Clear cache' button to 'on'
- Quit 'Settings' and reopen the Times iPad app
Hope this helps.

I have the same problem with one Local News paper and the (German) "Bild" News papare which keeps the last 7 days.

It is about time all those daily News paper, will add that simple task of Deleting Past issues Manually.

Thanks to both Pigweed and f4780y for the "clear cache" method in settings.
You folks are amazing how you seem to know everything. ~ smile ~

Hi folks

First communica........just joined.

Just wondered if it's possible to delete archived versions of the Daily Telegraph from my IPad.
Fiddled about with settings, tried in Telegraph App itself to no avail. Any suggestions

Hi I am new to this forum game but hope to be able to assist. This may be a bit longwinded for the experience but here goes.
Times Issues Deletion Of
Like others, I have many issues of the Times and Sunday Times on the iPad, most of which I will never be re-read.
Here is a way I succeeded in clearing all the issues.
Connect the device to your computer. Open iTunes, select your device in the leftmost list, then select Apps in the heading under the Apple logo, scroll down your apple list for the Times or S Times: select the associated remove button (to the right), then Apply.
After the apply process has finished, repeat the above process but this time click the associated button that will now have changed from Remove to Install and then re-Apply.
Your device will now have the issues removed but may still list your old issues ready to re-download if required.
You may need to reposition the icons on to your preferred home screen.
Hope that is of use to someone. Regards, William
