How does people find me on Skype?

How does random people find me on Skype? I'm gettting messages from men I don't know at all, and don't know where they "find" me! Already changed my status from online to invisible, but it's did no solve the problem.

If you have your email address associated with your skype account, and your email appears in some spam list, thrid-party users could find your skype account.

Have you contacted Skype to explain what is happening? I should think that Skype would not wish for this sort of activity to continue. There are some sad people in this world unfortunately.
