Just received my iPad 2 for Xmas. Wonderful surprise. Don't even have an iPod or know what one is! Lol. Now can't put it down and trying to learn the basics. Please help.

Oh, how rude of me, I forgot to welcome you so........

Hi there and welcome.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Finally, if you still haven't had enough, how about a video explaining about our other forums (note:you may want to play this at half speed but hey, why shouldn't Phil be excited about our forums!)

If you add the birthday to the Contacts app, it will appear in the dedicated Birthday calendar in the Calendar app.

Touch the + button in the bottom right hand corner to add an event, etc.

Don't mean to high jack this thread, but, have been looking for this awhile. When I go into my calendar on my iPad there is not a "+" sign in the bottom right hand corner.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks,

Don't mean to high jack this thread, but, have been looking for this awhile. When I go into my calendar on my iPad there is not a "+" sign in the bottom right hand corner.

Let's start with the basic fixes, and if they don't work there are a few other things you can try. Hopefully I'm not just repeating things you already know and have tried.

When you have problems with an app it's a good idea to clear it from RAM.

Close/Clear the app: With the problem app closed, double tap on the Home button to get the multitask bar. Tap and hold on any icon in the bar until they jiggle, then tap the minus sign on the problem app. This will remove it from RAM and insure a clean start the next time you launch the app.

If that does not work try a restart,

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears.

and then a reset if that does not work.

Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.

And here is a link that might help you in the future, when you have a new question to ask.

Thank you for your reply. I tried all of your tips, but alas, still no + to add in my calendar.

Have you turned your Calendar on in ICloud? Settings - Icloud - Calendar and turn this on. Hope it works, let us know.

I restored to factory settings on iTunes. Works now! I have had it only it a few days, so no biggie. Thanks for the responses. I am sure I will be back when I figure it out a little better.
Looking forward to a responsive forum.

Thanks again =D
