I'm a Luddite I'm afraid. Having just updated to IOS 7 on my iPad, I can't double press the main enter button to reveal apps already open and therefore cancel to prolong battery life?
What am I missing please?

Is there a problem with your button? You can do a four finger swipe up on the screen then scroll left/right to find the apps you want to close....then just swipe up on the thumbnail above the app icon to close them.

Hi, welcome to iPF!

Double press the Home button, and if this doesn't work, do a four finger swipe upwards to reveal the multitask bar. Then tap one tof the thumbnails (above app icons), and drag it to the top of the screen.

One more advice:
After updating to the new software, reset is recommended:
Press and hold Home amd Power button, until the Apple logo appears.

It seems I wasn't quick enough! But I was writing a little bit more. :-)

I have the same problem. I tried the four finger swipe and the apps did appear but when I tap either the app or the icon it opens and I still can't close it

Just swipe up and drag the app to the top of the screen. It closes.

Thanks.
I was about to ask the same question but a quick look through the forum and as always I found the answer.
