How to watch films on ipad while listening to sound through car stereo??

Hi, I'm new to the ipad and only bought it for my wife for our road trip next week. I have a pioneer stereo with ipod in etc and would like the movies to have sound through the stereo but want to be able to watch the film on the ipad as its bigger, whats the easiest way to do this?

Should just be able to plug it in and go, I'm assuming the jack you plug it into is a headphone jack?

It's just the normal white ipod lead. When its plug in it justs shows a message on the ipad 'this device is plugged into a source' and the sound is through the car but no picture on the pad. I have just ordered a lead from pioneer that has apple one end and usb and av jack the other which both plug into the headunit at the same time. Will this cure it or will it need jailbreaking??

Can't you just plug it into a headphone jack? Then it won't disable the screen via 30pin connector.

Yeah, headphone jack is where you want to plug it in, with a double male plug.
