Safari doesn't display http: or https: in the adress bar. Does the lock icon that appears from time to time indicate an https site? that is what I have been assuming.

While on the subject, any opinions on using iDevices for finincial transactions? Some seem to be saying that the "walled garden" of the iOS world protects against viruses and malware, hence an Internet security app is not necessary.

I would imagine that something nasty could (will) slip through the Apple net one day but you would have specifically download it and I assume that Apple would get on to it fairly quickly anyway. Some cunning person could, I suppose submit and innocent looking app and, after it was approved, sneak in a malicious update. It would have a short life I assume.

This one never got an answer. I just checked out on a site that led to mobile.paypal.com with a little padlock on the tab, but no http or https. I too assumed that the padlock meant it was https, but was just seeking confirmation :). Thanks.

You, sir, are correct in your assumption. :) That little padlock means it is a secure site.

And - welcome to the forum! Good to "see" you and I hope you enjoy your visits.
