I am trying to understand Jailbreak

Been reading on the net and in here but I can't see what the purpose of this would be. All I can see is you can change the browser, and there are a few Apps that you can install. I fully understand the install and have no problem doing it but before I do this I want to understand what it can do for me. Can someone shed some light on this or am I missing something here.....Mike

Some things I really like are Ad-Block (blocks ads in Safari), SBScheduler (allows you to turn on or off, on a schedule, things like 3g, wifi, ringer volume, display level...), monitor data usage, display out to TV everything on the screen, EZDecline to decline phone calls, and Photo Album Plus which allows you to make folders and move pictures into them in the Camera Roll/Photos. And dozens more to make your life easier and more productive.
