I pad i phone sync. Why can't I sync my devices bybwi fi or bluetooth?

AM I not able to sync my devices wirelessly via Bluetooth or wi fi? Does it have to go through the cloud or iTunes?

No bluetooth sync on the ipads. Wifi sync in my book is a PIA and only works when it wants to work.
