iCloud and Syncing!

I'm a noobie who would like to use iCloud to sync with my devices--Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Bookmarks, etc--I have a new iPad, iPod Touch and use a Windows-based PC/Laptop. While going through the set up process I noted that the PC iCloud Control Panel info states a requirement for MS Outlook 2007 or later---I have MS Office/Outlook 2003 so will this be a real problem/showstopper, especially for syncing contacts, calendars, etc and if so, what are my alternatives?
