Indentation on top of case?

I have the Wi-Fi only iPad 2. I noticed a very small "hole", like a tiny line right in the middle of the top of the case. It's not a defect as my friends has the same thing but I'm wondering what it is. Anyone know?

The thin little slot with the wire mesh inside? I'm guessing that's the microphone.
