Hi all, I have been signed up for a few days and have had a few posts but wanted to introduce myself. I am an original iPad user and currently have the 64Gb 3G / wifi version. I do not however use the 3G functionality (i.e. no sim installed). Initially I had the 32Gb wifi only version but as I like to have a lot of content on the iPad itself I went for the maximum capacity version. I use the iPad daily for commuting as its so darn flexible - (I read books, pdf files for work and pleasure, big comic fan so its a great platform to read comics, I am a big TV head so watching both films and TV series - I have music too of course and sometimes just listen - or listen and read. Not to forget about the games of course and I have a good selection. I play chess and have the neat chess with friends app and am currently enjoying a game).

I purposely set out to buy the Otterbox defender given I had its baby brother for my iTouch and loved the concept and design. The original iPad version is great as the screen cover makes a perfect stand for the movie / TV viewing - even on crowded commuter trains and tubes! I also used to be a screen protector freak - but reading some different views on this, and given I had a replacement iPad provided by the awesome gius at the Apple Genius bar (original iPad stopped being recognised by USB on iTunes) I have left off fiddling about with screen protectors. Not sure specifically what type of glass the original iPad has but it doesn't look far off being 'gorilla glass' like and I have noticed no issues with any screen marks.

I did not immediately jump to the upgrade for iPad 2 as the camera / facetime stuff was not a big deal for me. Interesting to see what the iteration for iPad 3 is and I may well be an odd model number adopter - i.e. 1,3, 5 etc which I think makes a pretty good compromise to keep enjoying this essential piece of kit.

I read the Jobs biography recently and it is sad when you consider that the man who had the vision to provide us with such a well realised tablet (given the others that had gone before and had not come close ...) is no more sadly.

Intro over guys and I look forward to reading through the many many threads and posts. I pick up new and interesting information all the time. Great forum. Long Live the iPad!
