CNET’s iPad Atlas blog reports that jailbreaker iH8sn0w would appear to have successfully jailbroken the iOS 4.2 firmware, which is currently in beta. iH8sn0w has even gone so far as to release a picture of himself running the Mobile Terminal jailbreak app, revealing the command line, just in case there was anyone out there doubting him. This means that the signs look very good indeed for anyone who is hoping to jailbreak their iPad the moment iOS 4.2 is released, something this November.

According to the iPad Atlas, iH8sn0w is just 15-years-old, and has previously been responsible for Sn0wbreeze, iReb, iDetector and f0recast. You can check out his Twitter here if you’re interested in that sort of thing. I know that many, many of you have been waiting for this news, so a lot of people are going to be very happy to find out that someone has already jailbroken iOS 4.2, albeit at beta stage.

I hope that these jailbreak coders realize that shouting out that you jailbroke a BETA.....Apple will hear about it, pose as a newbie and will fix the exploit before 4.2 Final is even out.

SO in retrospect it is better to keep it quiet until the final is out.

How do you guys expect Apple to fix this? Without a release they have absolutely no way to know how... It is just a 15 year old showing off like they always do when an exploit it's found. Absolutely nothing has been given away to Apple...

This story is only about a boy who wrote a jailbreak for iOS 4.2. It has not been released to the public yet. Be patient!

smart enough to jailbreak it, but not smart enough to keep quiet a few mre weeks...great. Let's see if this delays the release now.

Apparently a lot of people cannot read. The method used to jailbreak was:
Jailbreak developer iH8sn0w has managed to jailbreak an iPad with iOS 4.2 Beta 3 using his own Sn0wbreeze jailbreaking tool, which is based on the same bootrom exploit found in GeoHot’s Limera1n, of course.
It is impossible to give away a new exploit when the exploit you are using has already been released to the public. iOS 4.2 beta was already jailbroken for the iPhone 3Gs (old bootroom) prior to this. It is simply the Hardware exploit (which if you follow the dev-team, Apple would have to redesign the A4 Chip to close the hole) and nothing else.

Also, you might remember that Chronic-Dev held back their found exploit because GeoHOT released his first. There are plenty of exploits in pocket, don't bother to nail people to a cross for figuring out how to jailbreak something now.
