Two more problems since switching to ios 8. First about 30% of the time I get the message there was a problem with the webpage so it is downloading again. Second, today I picked up the iPad and what I call the homepage all of of the icons or bookmarks have disappeared. Is ther a short cut way to get them back?

Maybe this will help to get the bookmarks back:
Go to Settings - General - Language & Region, and set the language to a different one. That done, and the language working with your iPad, use the same procedure to set it back to your language.
It might sound strange, but it helped others in your situation.
