iPad 1 iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreaking issues.... Please help!

Hi All,
A complete jailbreaking amateur here having issues while trying to jailbreak my iPad 1.

My iPad is running the latest iOS - 5.0.1

I have downloaded redsn0w 0.9.9b8 & the official Apple firmware for iPad 1 (5.0.1) from the links on here

When starting redsn0w and selecting 'extras' then 'select IPSW' I am selecting the Apple firmware I downloaded but I keep getting the same message - 'That IPSW is not supported by this version of redsn0w'

Can anyone please point me in the right direction as I have absolutely no idea where im going wrong - as far as im aware I have followed the instructions given on here.

Many Thanks

Graham.

You must download iOS 5.0 firmware, not 5.0.1. So you select the iOS 5.0 firmware and it will work.

In addition to using 5.0 for the initial jail break, remember to point redsn0w at the 5.0 IPSW when you reboot with redsn0w (which is every time you reboot or power up the iPad).

Your iPad will show as being on 5.0.1, but since redsn0w doesn't work on that version, you've got to point it at 5.0.

And don't forget to check "enable multitask gestures" together with "install cydia" while jailbreaking otherwise they'll disappear after jailbreak even on 5.0.1

Sadly when I tried just ticking "enable muliti-tasking gestures" my iPad when in jail breaking process it just gave me and error

Had the same issue - first time jailbreaked without gestures, than tried to add gestures, had no success. Restored through DFU, then did JB together with gestures. I've jailbreaked several times and found that not every try gives success - there is a short period of time when you must to release 'home' button and sometimes iPad goes to reboot in the middle of process - do not know why. But it only on JB. While tethered boot you may go in DFU before pressing 'just boot' button.
