Ipad 2 volume ocon wont leave screen

The icon doesn't disappear. Only when I go to settings> sound then disappears but reappears as soon as I click back.
Plz assist, thx

Have you tried a restart or a reset of the iPad? To do (apologies if you already know):

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears.

If that doesn't help, try this last step...

Reset: Hold both the power and home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo then appears (the slide to unlock screen may or may not appear). Once the logo appears, release the buttons. After a time, your homescreen will appear. Please note that it may take some time for the Apple logo to appear or for your homescreen to appear (or both). This is normal. Eventually, the homescreen will appear.

See if that helps. If not, holler back and we'll take another stab at it. Good luck.

I've tried both restart and reset and even reset entire iPad to no avail except that vokume level. When in sound setting, volume button won't stay at ANY spot and reverts to either totally on or off.

I can reproduce exactly the same behaviour if I hold down the volume button continuously, so it sounds to me like your volume button is stuck down. Try pressing it both up and down to see if you can dislodge it.
