Ipad 3 Safari

Hi, I just got my iPad 3 a week ago and I was wondering when I open my safari there is only one page and a bunch of tabs I'm new to iPads but not to iPod touches and I know in iPod touches you can have multiple pages. Does anyone know if I can make new pages or if there will only be tabs at the top of the page.

The tabs are just like pages on an iPod or iPhone. You touch the tab (page) or your iPad to access, or close, it rather than swiping through pages as you do on an iPod
