iPad Air 2 Email Problems

I just bought an iPad Air 2 last week and I'm having problem adding my gmail account to my iPad. It was working for awhile, and then it started asking for my password. I deleted the account and then tried to reinstall the account...and now it won't even let me do that. What gives? And how do I fix this?

Are you able to log into your gmail account using a web browser? I would test this with logging out and back in via Safari.

If you use two step verification for Gmail, you'll need an app specific password to be able to set up the account.
