Ipad and ime capsule

Hi Everybody, I travel alot and want to take all my movies and photos with me i was thinking of a seagate satellite but the storage is too small, Then i thought of a time capsule, can I load movies from a time capsule without the need for an internet connection? if so anybody willing to share the setup if and what app could i use to play Avi's? thanks and regards Steve
