Hi new to apple and iPad, I hope to use an excel developed file which incorporates some vlookup in the formula. Can'this file be "read" by numbers, i understand that not all formula will be converted. Will I be able to "re-write" easily to restore my excel version

There is a vlookup function in Numbers. Whether this will transfer when you import the Excel sheet, or work properly when it does can't be guaranteed until you try.

If there is no private or sensitive data in the spreadsheet, I would be happy to import it into Numbers and see what happens. Be sure to tell me what it's supposed to do. I'm not always bright enough to figure it out myself.

You'll need three more posts before you can supply a link or attachment, so wander around the forum a bit more and participate. I will guarantee it's worth the time. Lots to learn here.

Numbers has a unique way of entering formulas that may (probably will) confuse those used to Excel. It takes a while to get used to, but works fine. The other quirks and methods of entry on a tablet vs a computer also take a bit of practice, but you'll run into that no matter what spreadsheet app you decide on.

P.S. Hello, and welcome to the forum. (I always forget that part) :)
