Ipad backups

So I have a personal iPad for home and a work iPad for work. I have used both at work and Home and have backed them up at both places. I received a message from my employer who is seeking to discipline me as my work desktop has backup files on it that when were reviewed showed that I had shopped and visited websites on my work iPad that we're inappropriate. I can't believe I would be stupid enough to use the company iPad to purchase items and in appropriate sites. Can my personal history for safari from my home iPad also show up with my work history files or vice versa?. How do they know which ipad did what etc...and which backup file was which..?..thanks for your time. Apologies for it being lengthy

Not sure what is going on then.

Using the iCloud account on both devices will sync some info; depending on how they are set up. Just logging into iTunes on both iPad, even using the same Apple ID won't share data; though it will allow you share apps.

You mentioned that you are backing both devices up on the computer. Backups themselves should not cause problems, but if you are using iTunes on the computer to sync any information that might leave some evidence. If you are using iCloud syncing between the computer and your device then that will leave even more information.

I recommend you not back up or sync your personal iPad with the work computer. That's the safest route when it comes to keeping your personal information private.
