I notice a flurry of comments about recharging the original iPad. Most suggest using the recharger that came with the unit.

Unfortunately, I cannot find that charger. Question: Would plugging the USB 2 plug that comes with the iPad into an USB 3 do the trick? USB 3 has greater powering capacity, but I don't know if that works with the iPad USB 2 cord.

Thanks for any knowledgeable advice.

The iPad will charge from a USB 2 port, just slowly. The iPad requires 2.1 amps to charge normally. USB 2 puts out 500 milliamps and USB 3 puts out approx 500 to 900 milliamps. So it might charge the same as USB 2 or maybe a little faster, depending on the vendors implementation of USB 3. Leaving it in over night on USB 2 or 3 should be fine to charge it up. Best thing to do is find the iPad charger.
