Hi,

My ipad 2nd gen has been disabled by friends, and I now have to connect it to itunes in order to unlock it. But my ipad has never been connected to the itunes on my computer and as result, the following message is displayed: Itunes could not connect with the Ipad, because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on your ipad before it can be used with itunes.
How do I unlock my ipad

Thankyou for your time

Alex

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

I'm afraid that all you can do here is restore your iPad and as you've never been connected to your computer, you will lose everything. Have you ever done a backup on another computer maybe? Do your friends remember the code they input? As they would have had to have input it twice. See if they do, it will save you a lot of headaches!

The IPad Forum is a community of members from all walks of life and from all over the world coming together to share our experiences and to help each other learn about this wonderful piece of technology the Ipad. You have no options, by design.

Ask yourself if someone had stolen your iPad and was posting here seeking ways to access it would you want them to succeed?

The pass code security cannot be circumvented for reasons just like this.

Sorry.

ok, I guess I will have to restore it, but how do I do it? Because it has never been connected to Itunes on my laptop and now that it is lock, it doesnt allow me to sync it.
again, thank you for your help

Alex

When you connect it to iTunes, it should show in the left column. Pressing on that line will bring up a screen on the right side of the page. Under the Summary tab, select Restore and then follow the iTunes prompts. As others have said, this will put your iPad back to a fresh out of the box state. Not good, yeah, but better than not accessing that iPad at all.

Sorry about your troubles and good luck.

Marilyn

When I connect it to itunes on my laptop, it doesnt appear on the left column, where apple products would appear, (as i have done it before with my ipod). Therefor I cannot proceed with the mentioned above steps.

Is USB/Windows detecting a device when you attach and prompting in any way?

Forgive me for asking but the iPad is powered up and on the lock screen when you attach correct?

Yes, Itunes detects the ipad, as it says : Itunes could not connect with the Ipad, because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on your ipad before it can be used with itunes. But it does not appear on the left column. Yes the ipad is powered up, but it isnt on the lock screen, it says : ipad is disabled connect to itunes.

Thank you very much! I was, with the help of the 2nd link, able to restore my ipad. I lost everything, but atleast I can open my ipad again :D
Thanks again

If you are now in and your last backup is recent and did not have a pass code why not restore it?

Maybe to late but sounds like all you needed to do was get the password from your friends that locked it in the first place. I suggest new friends as well..

My iPad also is saying IPad is disabled connect to itunes. when i connect to itunes it wont let me go any farther, cause of the lock code. I do know my lock code, but my kids must have been screwing with it n now its disabled. How do I get it where i can put my password in?
