ipad mini to mac mini file transfer..

I want to get some movies from photos on ipad mini..
when i connect and look in itunes i select photos,
on the icon of the ipad but can go no further,,
cant see the files in photos
i dont even see photos in the window..
..sketchbook ,an app i downloaded is there ..thats it.
anybody know how to get the movies or photos this way?
