iPad not charging or syncing

Hello. I have an iPad 1, and I plugged it into my computer (Windows) and all of a sudden it's just not recognizing it. I literally just put some songs on like 2 days ago, and now it won't even recognize the device. Also, the "Not Charging" logo doesn't come up when I plug it in like it used to.

On top of all that, when I plug it into the wall charger, I get the "Not Charging" logo, instead of the lightning bolt in the battery. Has this happened to anyone? Is there a fix?

Quite recently we had another Member with exactly the same problem and it turned out to be a faulty charging cable. You don't, by any chance, have another one you could try - perhaps from an iPhone or iPod? If not, you might need to take a trip to the Apple Store and see if one of their cables fixes the problem.

PS - just in case it's not this, it's always worth trying the easy, fix most problems, solution of powering the iPad completely down by pressing and holding the Power button until the slider control appears.
