iPad on TV output help -- displays double images

I tried hooking up my iPad 2 to my old CRT tv with the Apple composite AV cable, but it displays the image "double" (as in twice on the screen, next to each other) -- and, no, I'm not drunk

Any advice on how to fix?

There are these things called "HDTVs". They are pretty cool.
