iPad + Pages + Bluetooth Keyboard

Greetings,

I have the 32Gig Wi-Fi iPad, using the Bluetooth keyboard for the Pages app. I notice a difference between this and the virtual keyboard that I can't figure out: while using the Bluetooth keyboard, Pages will not auto-capitalize the first letter of a sentence, nor will it capitalize "I", while the virtual keyboard does all of this.

Does anybody know if there's a setting I'm overlooking?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I've been asking myself the same question. I'm also bilingual and can't toggle between language keyboards with the Bluetooth one. Half of the letters and symbols are wrong, so much so that it becomes unusable because I have to guess where the letters are hiding.

Had a hard time to figure the issue
Basically you have three levels to change the keyboard.
the first one is the language that is linked to the dictionary you can also decide what layout This will only affect the layout of the keyboard on the screen

Then you have a level called Softkeyboard that you can consider as the keyboard displayed on the iPad screen.

The last level is the hardware keyboard that is for the bleu tooth keyboard.

Hope this helps

As Tpowis points out

'Settings', 'General', 'International Keyboard', (in my case) 'English UK', and from there you can choose a software keyboard layout - say AZERTY or QWERTY - and a hardware keyboard layout - say French, German, Spanish, Italian etc.

I've not found a way to auto-capitalise the first letter after a 'period', 'space' either.

This is the most useful tip I get. Very direct. Just wonder why Apple does not put it in the manual for Apple Keyboard???

I suspect it was because the Apple Bluetooth keyboard was not designed specifically for the iPad; it works with a range of Apple computers and, for most of those, this problem does not occur.
